Matiegka, Wenzeslaus ( 1773-1830 Bohemia)
Matiegka was born in Bohemia in 1773. He studied Law in the university of Prague and was taught the pianoforte by Abbe Gelinek. In his late twenties he moved to Vienna where he was quickly acknowledged as a guitarist, composer and teacher of the piano. Matiegka married and settled in the suburb of Leopoldstadt where he was also Kapellmeister until his death. He had six children, none of which followed the path of music. He died in Vienna in 1830.
