Coste, Napoleon (1806-1883 France)
Born in Amondans, in France, Napoleon Coste started learning the guitar taught by his mother, an accomplished player. In 1829 he moved to Paris where he studied under Fernando Sor.
He was a famous performer but in 1863 had an accident and broke his arm. That lead his career as a performer to a premature end. In order to earn for his living, Coste continued his career as a teacher only. He died at age 77 leaving a significant catalogue of original compositions.
