Carcassi, Matteo (1792-1853 Italy)


Matteo Carcassi was a famous guitarist  and composer. Born in Italy he devoted to the music, and especially to the piano and the guitar from an early age. He moved to Germany in 1810, where he gained success as a virtuoso guitarist almost immediately. There, he earned his living as a piano and a guitar teacher. In 1820 he moved to Paris. In 1822 he performed some very successful concerts in London, which made him even more famous as a concert guitarist. After a very successful presence in many places of Europe, performing concerts, he quit that around 1840.
He died in 1853 in Paris.
